Principal Product Manager

Bright Money is a Consumer FinTech company based in San Francisco, USA, and Bangalore, India. It builds consumer digital products that use Artificial Intelligence to improve how people make personal financial decisions, with their credit cards, checking accounts and personal savings.

The Bright team has a strong background in Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences. The team was founded by Avi Patchava (former McKinsey, InMobi), Petko Platchkov (former McKinsey, CommuterClub founder), Varun Modi (former InMobi) and Alexander Seyfert (former Amazon, Yahoo). Bright has raised funding of +$25m from 28 angel investors (incl. Naveen Tewari and Kunal Shah) between
San Francisco and Bangalore, and 4 Venture Capitalist funds: Sequoia, Falcon Edge, Hummingbird, and Oakhouse partners.

Key Responsibilities:

As Bright’s Principal Product Manager for the Debt Manager system (Machine Learning system), you will help our team design and execute a strategy to become the single automated debt manager system for US consumers (50m+ US consumers carrying large levels of credit card, student and auto debt). 

Using data and customer insights, you will imagine, and build a revolutionary money management system. Our team is building a personalized, automated financial money management system that delivers real impact in financial lives  using machine learning for better money management. 

The system currently operates for tens of thousands of users who pay a monthly subscription fee. We will expand to more than a million users within the next 2 years. We need to ensure the system will scale and continue to operate effectively with smarter money decisions for every user.

You will report to the Chief Product Officer, and Co-founder who is in San Francisco. You will lead a team of 8-10 product managers between the USA and India. You will work closely with the CTO, Head of Machine Learning Engineering and Head of Data Sciences, who are some of the most talented and execution-driven individuals in their field - each with unique research and several patents to their name.

  • Communication: Proactively communicate your team's plans and accomplishments and ensure alignment with senior leadership.

  • Strong bias for action: Ability to juggle multiple priorities and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Your Skillset
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • MBA or Master’s degree
  • 8+ Years of experience operating, managing, and delivering results in a consumer facing online retail/services product management role
  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition, feature delivery and trade offs of a product, end-to-end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience building and managing high-performing project teams
  • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical senior stakeholders across multiple business units
  • Strong oral and written communication skills: This role will require the creation of whitepapers and other written deliverables
  • Proven track record for developing a vision, defining a strategy, and building programs and features solving complicated problems with elegant, simple solutions
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making
  • Technical fluency; ability to understand and discuss architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
  • Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly software applications and customer-facing features
